Indonesia Volcano expedition From Anak Krakatau to Mount Tambora

This is expedition of Indonesia Volcano on the South ring of Fire. We will take you to explore more than 12 volcanoes in Indonesia across java, Bali, Lombok and sumbawa Islands. Tour duration is 24 days, and the difficulty of the tour will be a combination of soft trekking and hard trekking.

Itinerary Program

Day 1: Arrive in Jakarta – Carita Beach, West Coast of Java
Transfer day pick up service from Jakarta International airport or Hotel. The transfer drive will take around 3 hours to the west coast of Java. Stay in a nice beach lodge in Carita.

Day 2: Sail to Anak Krakatoa, explore the Anak Krakatau Volcano
After breakfast, ready for sail using speed boat to Krakatoa island, we will climb Anak Krakatau, also obervation on the anak Krakatoa, overnight in tent on sertung island, Panjang island, or anak Krakatoa defend on Active Volcano, we will see situation on Going.

Day 3: Sail Back to Carita, Transfer to Garut
in the morning we sail back to Carita, we will stop for Snorkeling and see coral reef on krakatoa island, and continuing sail to carita beach, then continue drive take 5-6 hours to Garut, overnight in Hotel at Cipanas Hotspring Area

Day 4: Explore Mt Papandayan Volcano, Kamojang Geyser – Hotel with Natural Hot Spring Water
Morning wake up, we will drive to small city callled Garut, directly to to Kamojang Geyser. It is a Volcanic Complex, in here we can see of Geothermal Power Plan operate by Chevron Energy and Also Mud Volcano Activity and Steaming at Kamojang Geyser this is one of Accident Driling in 1926 by Dutch Colonial and until now still have pressure from underground and after exploration continue drive to Mt Papandayan then Visit Mount Papandayan will be take around 2 hours, one of most active Volcano in West Java, only walk about 300m we can very close to the craters of Mount Papandayan. After finis trip to Mt Papandayan, overnight at Same Hotel.

Day 5: Travel By Train to Yogyakarta – Home Stay at Selo Village on Mountain
In the Moring tranfer to Tasik Malaya Train station then using Train executive take 5 hours to Yogyakarta, continue drive take 2 hours to Sello Village, overnight at a small Guest House.

Day 6: Climb Mt Merapi – Free Program – Hotel in Yogyakarta. possible to Visit Borobudur Temple and City Tour
Start in the dark at 01.00 am, we will leave the homestay, starting trek to hike Mount Merapi, it will be 4-5 hours hike, and around before sunrise we will arrival in Summit of Mount Merapi 2998m. After exploring the volcano, going down for Breakfast at Pasar Bubrah. Back to Selo Village, to the homestay. Next activity, optional visit to Borobudur temple and southern part of Merapi volcano. On the afternoon, we will arrive in Jogjakarta, resting nicely in the Hotel at Yogyakarta.

Day 7: Transfer to Malang by Train – Homestay in Tumpang
Using Execuitve Train we will go to Malang. It will take 5 hours but the view will be very nice. Additional 1 hours drive to Tumpang Village, overnight at a homestay.

Day 8: Trek to Mt Semeru camp to Kali Mati – Tent
In The Morning after simple breakfast about 06:00 am, we will drive to Ranupane Village 2100m using 4wd Jeep and then directly start walking. The trekking will  take 6-8 hours to the Kalimati Camp 2700m. Here, you will stay in a camp, rest as relax as you can to prepare for the summit attack at 12.00 midnight. 

Day 9: Climb Peak of Mt Semeru – trek back to Ranupane Village – Homestay at Ranu Pane Village
In the dark you will start climbing on rough ground, Having trekking poles will be valuable to help you balances with the movement. Most people reach the summit about 3 hours, but it depends on everybody’s ability to keep going. It’s been advised by National Park to decent the summit before mid day due the gas produces by continuing smokes of Mt Semeru.
Reaching the summit (Mahameru 3676m) you will enjoy the view of the major part of East Java. You will stand in the highest mountain in Java. You have to see the small-scale eruption every 20 minutes full of smokes and stones. So enjoy your achievement today, you’ve deserved it but mind do not too close to the crater as the Mt Semeru is an active volcano.
Then we descend from summit back to Kalimati (camp) to have breakfast and to rest for a long morning trek. After breakfast we will continue to Ranu Kumbolo and will back trekking to Ranu Pane village using different router via Mount Ayek-ayek the foot of Mount Semeru or same route. We’ll Arrived in Ranu Pane, overnight at Guest House

Day 10: Bromo Sunrise – Mt Bromo Volcano – tranfer to Kawah Ijen Volcano – Homestay at Coffee Plantation
Early morning we will take you to see the spectacular sunrise from Mt Penanjakan with 4WD jeep. You will enjoy the magnificent view of Mt Semeru and Mt Bromo from the summit of Mt Penanjakan.Then we will drive you through vast of sandy area (lautan pasir = ocean of sands) across to go to summit of Mt Bromo. It is a concrete well mark steps to the edges of great crater. From here you can see the ocean beach and viewing the Hindu’s temple held by Tengger Tribe from Bromo. Then Come back to for Beakfast and check out from the Hotel to drive 5 hours to Blawan Village, After check in Homestay, visit Swimming Pool by Natural hot spring water and visit Waterfall close from the Homestay overnight at Home stay – Sempol Blawan Village 

Day 11: Kawah Ijen Volcano Hiking – Transfer to Munduk Village – Bali – Eco Hotel
Early in the morning, well before sunrise, we drive a short way to the start of the trail that leads up to the active beautiful crater of Kawah Ijen volcano (about 1-2 hr hiking) with its famous blue acid lake (which is the most acid in the world!) and the hot, partly liquid sulphur deposits. The fumaroles are so hot that sulphur comes out as green vapour. After plenty of observation time, we leave the Ijen Plateau then after clean and washing, we drive take 2 hours to Ketapang for Transfer to your Hotel in Bali, from Gilimanuk Harbour using private car for transfer to your hotel in Munduk Highland

D12 Jungle and Village Trekking -Munduk
In the Morning we trekking around Village of Munduk Visit Waterfall, Country side and Tamblingan Lake also visit Ulun danu temple and traditional market, then back to Hotel for relaxing, overnight at same Hotel

D13 Transfer to Besakih Temple, for Prepare climb Mt Agung – Homestay
Transfer to Besakih temple, on the way we will have short trekking to Mount Batur Volcanoes and also Ubud Village, overnight at Guest House at Besakih Village

Day 14: Night Trekking to Climb Mt Agung – Ubud Village
Night Trekking to Climb Mount Agung Volcano 2900m, this trek will be take 5-6 hours until the peak, normally before sunrise already in peak, then going back to Village, transfer to Ubud overnight at Ubud Hotel– Free Program

Day 15: Transfer to Airport, flight to Bima, continue drive to Pancasila Village – Homestay
In the Morning transfer to Airport for Flight to Bima, then drive take 5-6 hours to pancasila Village, overnight at Homestay/Local House

Day 16: Trekking to Mt Tambora – Tent
after breakfast starting for trekking cross rainforest jungle to Pos 3 2500m, this route sometimes have avoid with leechess, trekking will be take 6-7 hours, if possible will continue trekking to Pos 4. overnight at tent.

Day 17: Tambora Peak and trek Back to Pancasila – Homestay
verry early morning, trekking to summit of mount Tambora with elevation 2815 m, the largest crater in the world. last eruption at 1815, dramatic sunrise on the top of Mount Tambora the back to Pos 3 for relaxing and trekking back to pancasila Village, overnight at Homestay.

Day 18-19: Sailing adventurer from Pancasila to Lombok Island, overnight at Boat
snorkeling, fishing, and Relaxing, this will be overnight at Boat, we will across Moyo Island, Medang Island, and same Small islands

Day 20: Transfer to Senaru Village – Hotel
continue sailing to Lombok, arive in Lombok we drive take 3 hours to Senaru Village / Sembalun Village, overnight at Eco Hotel.

Day 21: Trek to Mt Rinjani via Sembalun Lawang – Tent
in the morning after breakfast ready starts from Sembalun Lawang with a gentle ascent walking through open grassland used as cattle grazing by local people. Resting at Pos I Pemantauan (1,300), after about three hours from Sembalun we reach Pos 2 Tengengean (1,500m) enjoying the beautiful views of Mt. Rinjani’s summit (3,726m). After another hour’s ascent to Pos 3 Pada Balong (1,800m), we start the steep 3.5 hour climb amidst the pine-like Casuarina species locally known as Cemara, perhaps seeing evidence of wild pigs and the long-tailed grey macaque monkeys to the camp site at Plawangan 2 Sembalun crater rim (2,639m), overnight at Tents

Day 22: Climb Peak of Mt Rinjjani – Segara Anakan Lake – Tent
A 3 am start is necessary for the hard three-hour climb to the summit (3,726m) on volcanic screen. Once there, enjoy proud feelings of satisfaction and the amazing sunrise views across the Wallace Line to Bali, Mt. Agung and Sumbawa, and down to the lake Segara Anak (2,000m) within the Rinjani crater. Mt. Baru (2,351m) is an island in the lake and an active volcano, last erupting dramatically in 1994. Return down the ridge passing numerous edelweiss plants bunga abadi to the crater rim camp for a well-deserved breakfast. It takes two to three hours down the steep trail to the Crater Lake and Day 2’s camp. The rest of the day is spent relaxing, swimming in the lake and exploring the caves and pilgrimage hot springs, believed to have healing powers. Overnight at Tents

Day 23: Trek back via Senaru Village – transfer to Senggigi – Hotel
After breakfast leave the lake and climb for two hours up to Plawangan 1 Senaru Crater Rim (2,461m). After lunch enjoy the views of the lake from the other side, relax, explore and await the sunset. If the wind is cold, you may prefer to descend two hours to Pos 3 Mondokan Lokaq and camp in the more sheltered forest. After lunch continues descend down the long trail to Senaru village (601m), through thick tropical forests rich in flora, bird life and a variety of butterflies. You might see orchid and, if lucky, the rare black ebony leaf monkey, known locally as lutung. Rest stops are taken along the way, with village stories and local legends related by your guide. Features include the Batu Penyesalan stone and banyan tree bunut ngengkang that looks like someone standing with their legs apart. After seven hours walk from the rim, (or five hours from Pos 3 Mondokan Lokaq), the trek ends at Rinjani Trek Centre at the road head in Senaru, then drive to Senggigi overnight at Resort Hotel.

Day 24: Transfer to Airport – End Trip
